High performance leaders are like the best coaches

Excellent example and summary in this HBR article.

High performance leaders are like the best coaches. They reflect, decide and act to bring out the best in their team.

Like an athlete they focus on preparing for the big event. And when it arrives they are ready to deliver.

Coaches use scenarios (what-if). They recognise and move through natural human bias (e.g. negativity bias).

They keep healthy, and every great coach has a support team of their own. This is critical to test their thinking, drop the guard, share freely and hear the truth.

No great coach or great athlete has done it alone.
