We instinctively complicate. Adding feels right more often than subtracting because it gives us something we can see. It is a mirage.
A Senior Leader in business brought me in to uncover the bottlenecks in performance. When we mapped priorities there were 80. Very busy. Very impressive. But no space to create or energy to perform.
As my youngest son said when we cleared his old toys out; 'Dad, we should think of what to replace these with (hoping for a new game)'. Exactly. There is never a permanent vacuum. We don't lose anything. We replace. And in higher performance we can replace with space.
Creation, innovation, and performance all need space. Give space to lift performance.
